We do a LOT of repairs and we will undertake any electrical repair for any 00 gauge model railway parts, large or small! We have a workshop packed with the latest test equipment to quickly diagnose and repair your precious locomotive or controller!

We are usually very busy through the winter months and quietest in summer.

Although we are happy to look at any loco or controller problem you may have please remember if your problem is regarding a very old or rare item it's unlikely we'll get parts and many not be able to repair it. You would be advised to contact us first rather than just send it in. Generally we're unable to work on anything older than the 1960's (i.e. pre-Triang days such as tin plate/clockwork) We also struggle to get parts for foreign loco's. We also do not undertake repairs on N or 0 gauge locos.

As a rule if it's any 00 gauge UK Hornby, Lima, Bachmann, Heljan, Dapol etc less than 60 years old we'll have a go at it!

When it comes to fixing controllers they often break in much the same way when you have a short circuit on your track so are usually easy to fix if you think this is the problem.

To book this service simply add this product to your basket and go through checkout as normal. You will be sent a form to complete by email. Please fill out this form and include it with your parcel.

If you forget to include your paperwork and we are unable to find contact details your item will go on "The Shelf" with the other unclaimed loco's until you ring us (yes it happens often enough that we need a dedicated shelf!)

No-obligation repair service!

Once received we will assess the faults and provide you with a quotation and timescales. If you wish to proceed we will undertake the repairs and contact you for payment. If you do not wish to proceed, the items will be returned to you for our standard postage charge.

Please note whilst it is impossible for us to provide a quotation without first seeing the fault, we are quite happy to discuss the potential costs via email or telephone. Most loco's that don't require parts are cleaned and serviced for around £40 plus postage.

We cannot undertake repairs to N or 0 gauge rolling stock at this time.

Special notes about slipping gears in steam locomotives:

Do you have a steam locomotive from either Hornby or Bachmann where the motor can be heard to spin but there is little or no movement? Sometimes it's slightly better in reverse. This is almost always caused by the gear slipping on the axles of the driving wheels and the only solution is to replace the wheel set. Please contact us before you send in a loco with this problem as there are so many different wheels, many no longer available. We will check that we can obtain suitable replacement parts before you send in your loco.

Special notes on damaged valve gear:

If your steam locomotive has damaged valve gear or con-rods etc we can sometimes straighten them but if they require replacement please contact us first as spares are hard to find. It's usually quite an involved job to change them (to be honest it's our least favourite job!) and can be a bit tricky to get running smoothly again. If replacements are needed and available the job will usually cost around £50-60.

UK delivery

We endeavour to dispatch all orders received before 11am the same day (excluding weekends) However there are occasionally circumstances beyond our control that will affect this.

We always obtain a proof of posting and this will be emailed to you with your order acknowledgement.

Standard Economy Delivery

  • Orders up to £24.99 cost just £3.95 for our standard economy delivery (3-5 days).
  • Orders between £25 and £99.99 are £4.95 (3-5 days).
  • All orders over £100 are sent post free (3-5 days).

24 Hour Tracked Delivery

You can get your item sooner by choosing our 24 hour tracked delivery option for an additional £3.95 on top of the costs above.

Courier Delivery

Some items can only be sent by courier either due to their size or contents. This will be explained in the product description. The delivery costs are the same however the delivery may take a little longer (up to 10 days) All courier deliveries are tracked and you will be sent a tracking number.

International shipping

Not all items we sell can be sent overseas usually because of their contents. This will be noted in the product description. If you order these items for delivery overseas we will not be able to ship your order and your payment refunded.

You may return any item for a refund or exchange with 30 days of ordering. After this time we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging and with all the included parts and extras.

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. Please include your order number with the item.
Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer. 

There are certain situations where we are unable to accept an item for refund or exchange:
- Book with obvious signs of use 
- CD, DVD, VHS tape, software, video game, cassette tape, or vinyl record that has been opened 
- Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
- Any item returned to us after 30 days since ordering.


You must contact us in the first instance to arrange your refund or exchange. Please email with details of your order number. We will then provide details for the items return.

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. 
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment, within 5 working days. We are unable to make a refund payment to a different card to the one you paid with.

Late or missing refunds
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. 
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. 
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded. 

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email to with details of your order to arrange your exchange.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
